Such a simple story and yet so moving. Just the thought of touching one of the beams that will eventually be a part of that wonderful cathedral gives me the chills. Thanks for sharing. Well, truly, thanks for taking the leap from gravel-trapped car to lumber mill and persisting.

Chris Webb-CurtisPenattheready.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08036036258111436847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2289380105853494014.post-6579697427525501532021-12-08T12:15:11.088-05:002021-12-08T12:15:11.088-05:00Love this story!! Thanks for taking me along with your words. Somebody should make a drawing of the new structure which shows where each tree came from and who donated it. The new cathedral will be a gift of the people of France and a gift of the forests and of the individual oaks that comprise the new structure. How wondrous.
So glad you got to see the trees before being milled, got to feel the emotional swing from aggravation to appreciation as they wended their way through your village. You got to sit on them, feel them and smell their fresh-cut fragrance. Parfum de Cathedral. 😁
Your story was possible, too, because you have become fairly fluent in the native language and were thus able to ask for and then receive the knowledge you sought. Such a reward. Makes me appreciate how learning a new language is a gift you give yourself. Thank you for sharing.
