Here are somethings we love about Bourdeilles (“bor day”). There is a river flowing right through the center of town. The Dronne River. It is crossed by a roman bridge from the XIII century and that bridge is the how village life flows up and down the village. There is a boulangerie closer to our front door there than our mailbox is here in Vermont. That boulangerie has wood-fired ovens that make the best bread in France. Magically, this bread can be eaten all day and there will be no weight gain. And we do eat it all day, even the dog. Everyone in the village of 800 (much less in winter) is crazy and happy, so we fit right in. Every morning we wake to the presence of the Medieval Chateau that lords over the village.
